MISSION STATEMENT: The Ojai Performing Arts Theater Academy offers students who demonstrate above-average artistic ability, potential, or interest, a high-quality academic and practical education in performing arts taught by professional artists. OPATA seeks to broaden its students' and community's bases of understanding, appreciation, and support for the arts by offering classes, lectures, hands-on experience, and community partnerships to foster teaching and performance opportunities for academy students.
Goals of OPATA (the Academy):
* To create a pre-professional conservatory training program in the performing arts, a center of academic and creative excellence
* To offer classes, lectures, and hands-on experience in theater, dance, music, technical theater, and film/video production, to be taught by professionals in the industry
* To create "school-to-career" programs in all majors through internships and entry level job opportunities
* To broaden the students' and community's bases of understanding, appreciation, and support for the arts
* To foster high-quality performance opportunities that simulate "real-world" experiences found at the professional level
* To develop community partnerships with existing arts organizations in our community
* To establish professional relationships with leaders in the entertainment and performing arts industries
* To attract students, families, and patrons of the arts to the Ojai Valley with the Academy's reputation for high-quality education and stellar performances
* To move the Academy into its permanent residence in the Ojai Performing Arts Theater Complex
